Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, demons, and sinister influences growing in influence within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
